AFL announces Indigenous Australian Rules team

AFL logoTHE AFL has named its 21 man squad for the Indigenous Australian Rules team that will play two Test matches as part of the e 2013 International Rules Series in Ireland.

The coach of the team will be Michael O’Loughlin and he will have a senior coaching panel supporting him that will consist of Rodney Eade, Tadhg Kennelly, Andrew McLeod and Adam Goodes who will be there in a coaching/mentoring role.

“The Indigenous All-Stars will make Australian sporting history when they travel to Ireland to represent Australia for the first time in the International Rules Series against Ireland,” said AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou.

“The list is made up of an impressive and competitive group of players, which will showcase our Indigenous talent and I’m confident will do Australia proud.”

The team will train in Melbourne on October 11 before heading off to Ireland on October 12.

The First Test is scheduled to be played at Breffni Park in Cavan on October 19 with the Second Test in Dublin at Croke Park on October 26.
